Before You Get Started

BigTent allows groups to send emails to communicate. You can control what emails you receive from the group, but the group leaders may still email the entire group from time-to-time. If you would like to unsubscribe completely, you will need to cancel your membership. Click here to learn how:  How do I leave my group or subgroup?

Jump Start Instructions

To change your email options online:

• Go to my bigtent > settings > email options.
• Update your preferences for forum, news, deals, blink, classifieds, and personal notifications, by clicking on each of these links at the top of the page.

 

To unsubscribe directly from an email:

• Click the link at the bottom of any email. 
• You'll be prompted to unsubscribe from that particular forum's emails, from all of that group's emails, or to end your group membership altogether. (Careful, this last action can't be undone!)

The Nitty Gritty

To change email notifications for group forum activity

• Click "forums" under "My Email Options."
• Check the box beside each forum and choose your desired email option from the "Change notification to" drop-down box located at the bottom of the list of forums. Choose "Web Only" if you prefer not to receive any forum discussions via email.
• Click "Save."

 

To change email options for news activity

• Please note that not all groups have this option.
• Click "news" under "My Email Options" at the top of the page.
• Choose your desired settings - choose "Web-Only" to stop receiving updates of the news bulletin.
• Make sure to save your changes.

 

To change email settings for classifieds

• Click "classifieds" under "My Email Options" at the top of the page.
• Choose your desired settings. To stop receiving classifieds emails altogether, chose "No" and leave the other settings blank.
• Make sure to save your changes.

 

To change email settings for Deals and BigTent Exclusives:

• Click "deals."
• Choose "Do not send" from the drop-down list, and select "No" for the BigTent Exclusives option.
• Click "Save."

        

 

To change email settings for bookmarks or TentMail

• Click "personal notifications."
• Choose your desired option for each. Choose "None, web-only" and deselect the checkboxes  to stop receiving these emails. (Note: This means if a group member sends you a TentMail message or Gift, it will only appear on the BigTent site, not in your email inbox).
• Make sure to save your changes. 

 

To change your preferences for receiving the BigTent Blink in your inbox

• Click "Blink" under "My Email Options" at the top of the page.
• Choose your desired settings and make sure to save your changes.

 

Please note: Even if you disable all of the above notifications, your groups leaders may still message you periodically with news and event announcements. If you want to permanently eliminate all emails from your group on BigTent, you'll need to leave the group entirely. To unsubscribe right from your email inbox

• Click the link at the bottom of any emailed digest or forum message.

• Choose an option:

- "Unsubscribe from [Group's Forum Name]" will ensure you no longer receive email updates from this particular forum.

- "Unsubscribe from all [Group Name] emails" ensures you won't receive email updates from any forum. Further, you will not receive email updates of classified listings.

- "End your membership to [Group Name]" will immediately terminate your membership with the group. This action cannot be undone.

• Click "Submit."
